The Pain Relief Foundation is a North American organization that aims to improve the quality of life of people in pain by raising awareness of chronic pain conditions as well as the neglect, dismissal and discrimination faced by those suffering from chronic pain.
For the majority, our health care system offers frustratingly little help. If the winner is not available the prize will pass to the next best entrant who is available to present.
We are raising awareness among policy makers, health care professionals and the public of the lack of scientific research as well as the poor quality of education health care providers receive on these chronic pain conditions.
Both the entry form and the essay must reach the Pain Relief Foundation by 31st August — late entries cannot be accepted. Essays may be submitted as a hard copy by post, or as an Microsoft Word document email attachment sent to secretary painrelieffoundation.
Furthermore, many are wrongfully accused of being drug-seekers when really they are looking for treatment. On all pages of the essay please put the essay title as a header, and the page number as a footer.
You must be available to present your essay to the Foundation in November The essay should be words or less. Please note this is an ESSAY competition and a well written, original essay is likely to be highly regarded by the judging panel. If we receive the essay with these identifiers it will be returned to you for modification and you may then miss the deadline.

The essay topic must be about an aspect of chronic pain. Only single author entries can be accepted. Please provide a title page with your name and Medical School and put the title only on the first page of the essay but DO NOT add your name, medical school or any other identifiers to ANY of the actual essay pages.
Entries must be accompanied by a signed entry form sent by post. Essays received without a signed entry form, either by post or email, will be discarded. No allowance will be made for postage or email failure etc.
